When you don’t know (yet) what’s next
Concerned about approaching a crossroad? Opportunities abound.
I had a client sit across from me recently; successful, sharp, who has built something real and valuable over many years of hard work, but is now finding herself at a genuine crossroad. The next chapter of her life is suddenly wide open.
No more excuses, no more "I'll figure out what I want once things settle down", things are already starting to settle down and she has no idea what she wants to do next. She isn't stuck in the way people usually think of being stuck because she's not failing at anything, she's been incredibly successful and now has so much energy, ability and the means, to do almost anything.
That's actually the problem; too much possibility and not enough clarity about which direction she wants to go in next, a familiar feeling for a lot of leaders in transition. During our chat, it quickly became obvious this isn't a "make a list of options and weigh the pros and cons" situation. Underneath the not-knowing is actually a whole lot of old stuff; beliefs about who she's allowed to be now, what her next venture is meant to look like, what she feels she still owes other people, versus letting herself consider what she actually wants for herself going forward. None of that shows up on a pros-and-cons list, it's showing up as feeling foggy every time she starts to think about it.
This is a perfect scenario for taking her through a Spiral Emotional Clearing programme, a form of clarity coaching for business owners that's not just for someone who may be feeling upset, stuck, or when something's broken or causing damage, visible or invisible, it's also for those in-between times. For finding the way when you're at a crossroads like she is. When you're free to choose and still can't seem to get that clarity you need, because what's actually in the way isn't a lack of options, it's everything sitting underneath that may be holding you back.
I'm looking forward to helping her work through a clearing process over the next 60–90 days so we can quieten the noise, help her let go of what's ready to be let go of, and make enough space in her head that her own answers will have the room to show up.
Wonderfully, based on what I've seen and experienced myself over the last few weeks and months, I know that once whatever's stopping her is cleared she'll know what's next for her because she'll feel it and see it. I can’t wait to see it myself….
If you're at your own set of crossroads now or they're coming up fast, and you’re feeling stuck even though you're genuinely free to choose, please don't beat yourself up as it's rarely a "make a better list" problem which we usually think is going to solve the issue. If this is you, you'll know exactly what I mean.
Feel free to message me if you're curious for a quick chat. If I can’t help, I’m bound to know someone else who can.
PS: I’ll keep you posted on progress….
