“Fake it ‘til you make it!!”

If I hear that one more time I’m going to ….. oh I don’t know …. throw a hissy fit, have a dummy spit  or something similar.

But seriously; for someone like me who chooses the words I use thoughtfully and intentionally and to whom authenticity is so important, I have never been able to understand why I still hear so many people quote it and repeat it with such gravity because it’s something they’ve read or learnt from some business (growth) “expert”.

When trying hard to attract clients especially in this day and age with the trouble we’re all having sorting what’s truth from what are lies and fakes, we know we’re far better off concentrating on how we can be as real and authentic as possible to attract our ideal clients and make a difference to their lives and ourselves in a variety of wonderful ways, so why would we still want to be encouraging people to be fake at all?!!

Quite simply, that phrase is old advice and doesn’t really serve anyone well, plus it also reinforces the imposter syndrome so many folks are already trying to deal with ….

A bit like those who say “good moaning” instead of “good morning” - another pet hate of mine. I know that’s a quote from “Allo Allo” which is a very funny show .… but when we understand that the words we say can and do have a profound impact on our psyche and thoughts, why would we (still) be setting ourselves and others up to fail?

Some years ago I wondered why we don’t tell the truth and simply advise ourselves and others to ; “create it ‘til you make it”, or “re-create it ‘til you make it” – if re-creation is where you’re at,  after all that’s what we’re really trying to do or share with others.

I’ve finally had enough in any case and decided it was time to speak out.

So moving forward (😊) let’s just tell the truth and set ourselves up to win by being authentic, and resilient, and let creativity lead us along our chosen path to our desired outcome, leaving lies and fakeness far behind!!

Come on give it a try, it’ll feel far more aspirational and inspirational I bet !!!
